Los Angeles, October 29, 2018 – Eurofiber, the largest open network provider in the Benelux region, and Inmanta, the KU Leuven University spin-off, will be demonstrating their joint Proof of Concept (POC) for LSO network interoperability in the USA this week. The POC, involving automated delivery of network services across multiple regional, national and international operators, will be presented at MEF18, the Global Networking Event, held from October 29 until November 2 in Los Angeles.
The Proof of Concept pays particular attention to automated delivery across multiple operators, leveraging the MEF LSO Interlude interface. The POC demonstrates how Eurofiber and its international partners can join forces in creating seamless and automated global connectivity.
Bart Oskam, CTO of Eurofiber: “Today we are taking a big step forward by showcasing the Proof of Concept for LSO network interoperability at MEF18, together with our partner Inmanta. Eurofiber is one of the first to showcase a real life setting for the end-to-end service orchestration of E-LAN via the LSO Interlude Interface over multiple domains and across multiple vendors. At Eurofiber, we believe in open frameworks and standards, which are at the very heart of interoperability. The end-to-end orchestration solution which we developed together with Inmanta enables us to deliver our services much faster and with even more flexibility. We are proud to jointly showcase this innovative solution at MEF18.”
Stefan Walraven, CEO of Inmanta: “Inmanta proves the capability to automatically use external services and resources to complete the digital Eurofiber services delivery. The orchestrator shields most of the underlying complexity arising from working across operators and using multiple types of hardware and software. This solution is fully aligned with the ultimate goal to achieve zero-touch automation of communication services for the digital economy. Showcasing our solution together with Eurofiber therefore perfectly matches the vision of MEF18 as it pursues agile, assured, and orchestrated communication services for the digital economy. It is indeed a big digital step forward.”
Eurofiber and Inmanta will continue to work closely together to further develop automated network interoperability in line with the MEF LSO framework.
Eurofiber owns and exploits an extensive fiber optic network in the Netherlands and Belgium as well as four regional datacenters, servicing the B2B and wholesale market for connectivity and cloud. Supplementing that vital connectivity and cloud infrastructure, Eurofiber also offers fully flexible interconnectivity between over 50 datacenters in the Netherlands.
Eurofiber has been the provider of an open digital infrastructure since 2000. Customers have complete freedom to choose the services, applications and providers they need. This allows our customers to tap into the full potential of digital innovation. The Dutch government has assigned Eurofiber the status of ‘vital infrastructure’.
The network spans more than 28,000 km of fiberoptic cable, which is expanded by 40 kilometer per week on average. The services of the company have been placed in five companies: Eurofiber The Netherlands, Eurofiber Belgium, Dataplace, UNET, DCspine.
Inmanta enables telecom operators to deliver their services much faster and with more flexibility. The award-winning service orchestrator of Inmanta automates and streamlines the entire service lifecycle. Instead of taking months and years to deliver services and release new features, Inmanta reduces the process to a matter of weeks and minutes.
Inmanta is a spin-off from the KU Leuven university in Belgium, and its automation and orchestration technology is based on 10 years of research. Inmanta won the international Call for Innovation on SDN/NFV 2.0, organized by Swisscom, Telia and Proximus.
